Located in a neighborhood founded by Jewish Detroiters and immigrants beginning in 1917, Tried Stone Baptist Church used to be Beth Teflio Emmanuel Synagogue, aka Taylor Shul. It was an orthodox congregation, with women sitting in the balcony and the men on the floor, and a Hebrew School held in the basement.

There is little info about the Shul or the years as Tried Stone Baptist, who may have taken over in the early 70s. The church was broken into, vandalized and robbed 10 times in July 2012, and reports claimed the Pastor and church was working to repair and restore the damage (http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/19162890/2012/07/31/tried-stone-baptist-church-in-detroit-robbed-vandalized. It's unclear when the property was abandoned.
