Abundant Life Christian Center
The Abundant Life Christian Center, formerly Calvary Presbyterian, was built in 1917, at a cost of $70,000. As the parish grew, an addition was added in the 1930s, which added classroom space for 1,000 Sunday school students. As the neighborhood changed and attendance dropped, the costs of maintenance led to the parish moving to a new location in 1991. The building was sold to Abundant Life Christian Center, who used the building for several years before moving themselves, and selling the building to Greater Faith for Deliverance Church. They used the building until a fire in the attic on March 21st, 2009 caused significant damage to the structure. The congregation planned to make repairs, but scrappers began their work, stealing pipes, radiators and even the stained glass windows. (from www.detroiturbex.com/)
